MY FEMALE SHITZU STARTED BLEEDING ON JANUARY 6/08, I HAVE ANOTHER MALE SHITZU, HE IS IN TOP OF HER ALL THE TIME NOW, BUT SHE DOESN'T LET HIM DO IT. IS THIS NORMAL FOR HER TO REGET HIM LIKE THAT?,SHOULD I WAIT?, IS YES HOW MANY DAYS?
CAN I FEMALE DOG BE BREED FROM 2 DIFFERENT MALES?
WHEN SHE HAD HER 1ST HEAT THE SAMETHING HAPPENED, I REALLY WANT THEM YO HAVE BABIES,PLEASE HELP ME.
                                        THANK

Answer
Hi. She's only on day 10, so wait about two days and try again. Most females won't fool with the male until she's in the right part of her cycle. Most breeders don't even try to breed their dogs until day 11 and 13 of the heat cycle, or on days 12 and 14. Watch for her vulva to sofen up, and for her blood flow to lighten in color and frequency. This is a good sign that she's ready to be bred. Also, if she still refuses the male, and you really want puppies, you may have to resort to A.I. Wait a couple of days and try again. Yes, a female can get pregnant by many different males. If I can help with anything else, let me know!
