Breeding an AKC with a CKC Pomeranian

Question
I bred my AKC black pomeranian with a CKC(US) pomeranian. I was wondering what my options were for advertising the puppies. I was hoping to register them AKC. I am guessing I can only register them as CKC, but was wondering if you had a different answer. I am not sure what to put in the description for selling them as AKC or CKC. Thank you! Autumn Lorenz

Answer
Hello Autumn:

You're correct about not being able to register the litter with AKC. They'll only allow registration if both parents are registered with AKC & meet the requirements necessary, like age. You might consider registering your female & hopefully the litter as well with CKC so that you can advertise them accordingly. The CKC's registration requirements are considerably more lax than AKC's & I would assume it would merely be a matter of submitting the paperwork & appropriate fees. I would certainly include in your ad or at least advise any potential buyers that your female is AKC registered -- you might include a copy of her AKC registration with each puppy. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you're aware, generally the price for a CKC registered puppy versus an AKC registered one is generally lower. AKC carries with it a distinct air of supremacy & I believe most buyers would know this. However, most people who are getting a puppy as a pet shouldn't be overly concerned with this & you can state honestly that their parents are pure-bred, regardless of which organization their registry is with. I'm including a link to the site for the Continental Kennel Club. I would advise you to call them & ask how you can go about registering the litter with them. Hope this helps!
