one puppy litter

we are getting a puppy from a friend, their bitch had only one pup, he' now 4 weeks and doing well, the mum is now showing less interest in him an he's happily eating solids. when is the right time for him to leave his mum? hope you can help, look forward to your reply :-)

Hi! It's best to wait until he's at least 8 weeks old. He needs to be with mom for a few more weeks. Pups learn doggie behavior from theor moms and littermates, even if mom isn't that interested. Since he's a singleton pup, it's really important for him to stay with mom for now to learn doggie things. Good luck, and have fun with your new puppy!
