Question
Hello Melissa, I have a 2yr old boxer, she is my baby and I bred her with a boxer a month ago. They locked on sept. 11th and again on the 12th. I can't tell if she is pregnant, although her nipples are swollen, but she doesn't have a big belly. Today I noticed a discharge after she went pee, is that normal? Will I notice anything after 4 1/2 weeks? I appreciate your response. Thank you, Kim

Answer
hello kim
there arent many things with the pregnancy that you would notice right now. at 28 days your vet can palpatate her to confirm pregnancy. they dont start gaining belly weight until around 6 to 7 weeks. i had a boxer that never gained much weight at all during pregnancy and whelped 7 healthy pups. also, around 40 days the vet can ultrasound to confirm pregnancy or xray around 50 days to count pups. other then that there arent many symptoms you would notice yet. discharge if its clear is normal. if the discharge is green or yellow most likely means an infection and needs antibiotics from your vet. i hope all goes well and feel free to ask any other questions.
