GSD mating

Question
We are in the process of mating my GSD with another.  They've been together several times, right now she's on the 10th day of her cycle.  She seems willing but as soon as he starts to get his penis inside her she moves away or lays down. It's the first time for both of them (me too) and I'm not sure if he's taking too long and she can't hold him up or if he should have a better hold on her.  Do you have any advice for me or is this just not meant to be?

Answer
Hi Kate

You may have to hold her steady so she can't move away.  Try sitting on a stool and have the female straddle your lap, using your knees to support her.

Day 10 gives the time to get it right, only let them together for short periods, but allow the male to be in "smelling distance".  That way he will get himself worked up and be a little more assertive when you do bring them together.

Good luck
