New problem with male

I raise Westies, my male has fathered nine litters with the same three females in the last five years with no problems. This last season it seems the tip of his guide did not get hard so it would slip off the mark and not make penetration. I tried to help but it seems it was just to soft. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Shelli.  I don't know of a medical condition that would cause the problem with your male, but I suggest that you have him examined by your veterinarian.

If all is well, in the health department, I would consider Artificial Insemination.  There are AI kits you can purchase online, that come with a complete set of instructions.  However, if this is not something you are comfortable in doing yourself, I'm sure your vet will assist you for a fee.
