male daschund crying re. female in heat

Hi-
My female dog is in heat and is being kept seperate from my male daschund.  it has been over a week and he will hardly eat and will NOT stop crying!!  What is wrong?  How do I get him to stop?  Nothing is working!!  PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Chelsea. This is normal. Male dogs will often quit eating, and cry a lot when a female is in heat and they are seperated. Try to distract him with toys or treats. Take him on walks. This is the joys of owning intact dogs.:-) There's really not a whole lot that you can do except to wait your girl's heat out. After she's out of heat, he should start to eat, and not cry anymore.
