Female Newfie acceptance of Male

Question
QUESTION: I read the past post on an issue that is exactly the same issue I am experiencing. During the past 2 heat cycles, my female newf is not accepting the male. She becomes nastey in which she has been muzzled, but to no avail. During the pre-heat state she will flag and allow my fixed male to comfort her by licking and mounting. The previous heat I took her to my vet for 6 progestone tests since I would be traveling to the male for breeding.  The last test predicted prime mating within 2 days so that night we took her to the male.  The breeder introduced the male the next day when I came back up. She was not nice to him at all. We did separate with a day off and again would not accept him. This continued for almost 2 weeks with no successful mating or say the least even a close one at that. This heat is becoming similar to the one before.  I went back to my notes and noticed that my fixed male began to court her 2 weeks prior to the first sign of blood and she allowed me to check her with no issues up until she began to bleed. She is going thru the exact pattern that she did previously but this time without alot of blood.  However, I believe she just begun bleeding and is not showing the same stream as before. I have taken her to the vet for another progestone to ensure where she is in her heat.  And I have worked with the breeder to kennel her during the entire heat cycle. But I am concerned that she will still not accept the male.  What if anything can I do in this situation besides doing an AI?

ANSWER: If you have no success with "forcing" the breeding, (holding the female with a muzzle and guiding the male in), A.I. is your only recourse.

Some females just don't want to be mounted and bred, she may be fine after one success mating.

QUESTION: In this case, she allows my fixed male to mount during the preheat. There are several things I think it might be... sorry for not elaborating before. I thought maybe she only had eyes for my fixed male but recently I added a male puppy to my clan (he's 4 months old and already displaying stud abilities, if you catch my meaning) and she aloud him to mess around during this time to. So I thought maybe she doesnt like the male I picked plus Im hoping that her being there at the breeders kennel will allow her plenty of time to get use to the other males there. I also thought that I would allow her to pick the one that we will use. All the males are in very much the same as in quality and test results and her heritage is very strong for head type, temperment and size. Have you ever encountered a situation like this? I am hoping that it doesnt have to come down to an AI as I think I will miss the timing this heat cycle or should this be the male breeders responsibility and if so how would I bring this up?

Answer
That helps.

We have one stud that none of the females like or prefer.  Some females are just like that, they like who the like.

Breeding is the responsibility of the dam AND the sire.  If a female is aggressive or the male passive it's nobody's fault as such.

You may have to try breeding her earlier.  She may be ovulating early in her season.
