Question
I have a 3 year old great dane, she wasn't due to go into heat until January, but had puppies in January. Her puppies are now 3 weeks old and she is wiening them already, I was wondering what to do about that, and wondering if it is possible for her to get pregnant again already, I put her out for a potty break and there was a dog here with here, Is that possible????

Answer
Hi Brittany

So your female went into heat in November, had pups in January and you're wondering when she'll go again?  You are also wondering about the weaning.

Depending on the size of the litter, she may be drying up.  You can start the pups on kibble and broth and keep letting her feed them a few times a day.

If she's bleeding, the male may have been confused, but pregnancy can only occur during ovulation.

Do I understand correctly that you didn't expect her to be in heat or was the pups a surprise?
