Proper weight gain in pregnant bitch

My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is 5 weeks pregnant. Her normal weight is 18 pounds. She is 3 1/2 and healthy. She has gained 6 pounds and should still have another 20 days to go before the puppies come. Should I be concerned?

Hi. It may be normal for her. Can you still feel her ribs well? Does she still have plenty of energy? Just make sure that gets plenty of exercise. Walk her everyday, the most important thing is that she gets exercise. Talk to your vet to see if he thinks she's overweight. Good luck!
