Question
I just tried to breed my boxer. The male was very willing but there was not a successful "tie" He entered her several times but they never "tied". Is there a chance that she might be pregnant? Both dogs are 2 1/2 yrs old. He has studded once before with success. Thanks for your time in advance.

Answer
Hi Merle

First off I have to ask if you have breed him before, did you test him this time for STD's such as Brucellois?   This is very contagious and can wipe out a breeding program.  All dogs should be tested before they've been bred and after they've been bred with an "outside" dog.

A tie is Mother Nature's way of ensuring success in mating.  There is of course a slim chance that she might get pregnancy. But I wouldn't hold much hope.

What day of the female's season are you doing the breeding?
