Question
I have a 5 year old female that was bred on July 3&5. On Thursday Aug 27 we had a x-ray done to count puppies and to check size of pups. This would have been here 4th litter. Past litter have been produce 4 - 8 puppy litters. This time it did not take however our vet has diagnosed a Pseudo pregnancy. We also have 2 other females that has their season around the same time this female had hers in July. Now the other 2 females seem to becoming back into season. Is this possible?

Answer
Hi. A false pregnancy can really trick you. It did us as well the begining of this month. An x-ray showed us that there were no puppies. I feel for you. It could be possible that what your other female is experiencing is a split heat. It's when they start heat, stop, then start back again later, usually within a few weeks to a month or so. Just to be on the safe side, take one of the other girls in for a check up. What I worry about is pyometra. Good luck.
