Inbreeding of Dogs

Question
Hi Melissa,

I'm just wondering if it is considered inbreeding if a dog is mated to a bitch and they both have the same father but different mothers.

Would it matter if their mothers come from the same line or different lines?

Read articles in the internet but those that I read indicate sibling-to-sibling so I was wondering.

P.S.  I don't have related dogs to mate but am very curious.

Thanks.

Answer
the closest you should ever breed is a grandfather to his grandaughter. anything closer then that can cause problems. as far as the mothers coming from the same lines i wouldnt advise it just in case. breeding is to better the breed and if people start cross breeding the lines so close in relation they are going to have alot of problems with the pups. i hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
