Pekingese whelping signs

My 2 1/2 year old Peke is pregnant and due Dec. 1. I think she may be going into labor now though. She didn't eat much today - usually she is Miss Piggy and never leaves her food. She has been panting hard for three hours now. What are all the signs of labor. Oh, also, she is a mini Peke and the father is a standard. Please help. Thank you so much.

Hi Dee. It sounds like she's getting ready. They can go up to 24 hours when they start this. It will drive you nuts, all the panting and digging. :-) Just keep a good eye on her, and call your vet to let him know just in case you need him. And get an emergency number. She's not that early, so everything should be ok. She may not even whelp until tomorrow. But it does sound like she's in early labor. Good luck, and if you need anymore help, let me know!
