Question
I have a beautiful 2.5 yr old female boxer that I was planning to breed next year with her next heat. She had a grand mal seizure 4 days before her last period 3 weeks ago). She has never had one before, should we now give up on the hope of breeding her? This is our third boxer, first female, and we are so anxious to breed her... I have been unable to find anything absolutely conclusive on the internet..
Thank you so much,
M

Answer
Hi. I'm sorry to heat that. First thing you need to do is to investigate why she had it. Was it caused by an outside source, medications, pesticides, heat, ect? If it was caused by an outside source, something that was taken care of, then you could possibly breed her. If it was a congential thing, then I wouldn't take the risk of passing it on to the puppies. It's a hard decision to make, I know, but you want to do what's best for the puppies, and her. I would figure out what caused it before I bred her, then make my decision from there. Good luck!
