Hello, i am thinking about breeding the best dog i have ever owned. My Patterdale Terrier Sadie, I am wondering how many pups the Patterdale breed is likely to have, Also as you probably already know these dogs are incredibly intelligent and strong willed would this help the whelping process in anyway? I would be absolutely distraught if she was to die in the process of whelping.

Hi. If I remember right, their average is about 6 I believe, I may be wrong. I can't remember if they are known for any whelping problems though. You'll want to find your breed's parent club on line, and it should have that kind of info there. One thing though, anytime you breed any breed of dog, you take that chance of something bad happening. You need to know the risks beforehand.
