whelphing golder retriever

This is my dogs second litter and we had no problems before.  This time we
know she is expecting approx. 16 pups.  For about the last 10 hours she has
been panting very hard and refusing water or food.  Is this normal?  She didn't
do this the first time.

Hi Cindy. Am I reading that right? 16 puppies?! Wow. It is normal pre-labor signs. She can do this for up to 24 hours. If her labor doesn't start soon, call the vet just to be safe. Because she's expecting so many, she needs to be watched carefully. Labor can slow down, or completely stop. Wow. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out please!
