Question
Will breeding a female pit on her first heat cycle put her at risk and if so what are the risks?

Answer
It can. Usually a female will have her heat cycle well before her second birthday. I don't recommend breeding a dog until it's atleast two years old. This allows the dog to finish growing, mentally and physically. That's very important. A female needs to be able to finish growing before she has puppies, because it's hard enough on a dog to carry a pregnancy, whelp, and care for a litter without the added stress of still growing herself. A very young dog may have difficulty whelping, or may not take care of the puppies because she's still puppy like herself mentally. If I can answer anymore questions, feel free to write.
