stud wont mount the bitch

hi, i have a 3.5 yr old choc lab who is on day 13 of heat. She is still slightly spotting pink discharge but is standing and flagging for the stud. However he is licking then walking away. Is there a reason for this

if he walks away then its not quite time yet. its hard to believe but when it comes to breeding, dogs are smarter then us and when the time is right they will both make it happen. ive had a bitch stand for a male for 3 days before he actually mounted her. if within 3 days he doesnt mount her bring another male in to see what happens. some males that live with the female wont try to mount her. i hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
