Chihuahua stud age

Question
Hi
I have a 7 month old chihuahua from excellent breeding lines and would like for him to be at stud when he's ready. Can you tell me what is the best age for a chihuahua to begin to be used at stud?

Answer
Once all of his genetic testing is complete , he will be able to breed sometime between nine months and one year of age. The age really depends on the dog and how confident he is. Some are ready younger than others. It depends on his emotional and physical maturity and as I said , how confident he is. Make sure you get up to date brucellosis testing on any female he is going to be bred to. Preferably for his first breeding choose a female that has been bred before,. and who is already receptive to the male, some females are aggressive no matter the stage of cycle and you do not want a bitch that will bully him.
Good luck
