Question
Hi Denise,
me again things have been going well 3 little bundle's of joy, each starting to get their own personality, such time waisters i seem to be watching them all the time,My question is i'v started to feed them, there now 3 an a half weeks.they are all having ago at eating but their only managing about a tea spoon at a time(if that)about three time a day is this right, mum is still feeding but for a very short time.

Answer
Hi Donna:

Good to know they're all developing well & thriving. They will normally eat very small amounts but frequently so I'd actually feed them 4 to 5 times a day if possible. The more accustomed they become to eating on their own vs nursing from mom will make weaning them completely easier. Once you want to completely prevent them from nursing from mom, you might try fitting her with something like an old tee shirt you can tie so that her teats are covered & the puppies aren't able to nurse. This will usually encourage them to eat more on their own & rely less on mom for full bellies!
