dog in heat ?

HI i have a 3 year old flatcoat retriever, she is due her 6th season, on fiiday evey dog we past started to howl at her and there was little swelling , on sat she started to bleed, on monday night she had stopped bleeding and the swelling had gone down,  i have read little about a split heat, could this be it or is there something wrong ? her last season was december and i hope to breed her this next season . can you help ?

Hi Cath. A plit heat will usually last a little bit longer than that before it stops. I'm not saying it's not one, just that it's kind of odd. I'd take her in to the vet for a check up to figure out exactly what's happening, especially since you're wanting to breed her. Any little thing needs to be investigated in a breeding potential animal as you don't want to pass something on to the puppies. This is something that a vet needs to have a look at to be on the safe side. Good luck!
