QUESTION: Hi, I have a just tuned 1year old American bulldog, Who  just hates my boyfriend! I think it is because i got her well my boyfriend was away on work for 2months and she nos me as her master and well is very pertective of me! But today we were driving in the car and me and my boyfriend were having a argument and she jus went snake on him!!!!! It was crazy i never seen her lke this she was insane!! And i dont no how to control her im scared that she will really hurt him (but its not like he doesnt really diserve it because we sometimes have some bad fites and she is only pertecting me) But she is not very good with new people either or some kids i dont no what to do i love her soo much but im just scared she may really hurt someone and i cant control her im not strong anough i had her in obedience a once a week thing for 6 weeks but it didnt cover nothing like that can you help????? Please

ANSWER: Hi Mellisa -- sounds like your female is jealous and may be too much dog for you.

You need to take her and yourself for more training and YOU have to be diligent in your handling and training of her.  A big dog like an AB, can cause big damage. And in today's society you NEED to have a well socialized, trustworthy dog. The liability of an aggressive dog, plus the new BSL laws makes this issue a very serious one.  You don't want her destroyed because you didn't spend enough time with a competent trainer/handler.

Don't wait one more day, find a trainer in your area who can teach you confidence in handling her and with experience with AB's and/or protective breeds.

QUESTION: I have tried looking around, I dont no of any trainers around here. It is a small town, With that only one dog obedience class and it was small to. Do you think maybe my vet would no of such thing?(im gonna call her)Or what sorta name id be looking for, For a trainer. I think she needs some disapline! Do you think ill be able to find someone around here that can help fix my dog!? Is there such a course on how to make a mean dog nice????? Thank sooo much, Mellisa Ps, How do you think she could have become this way i braught her up write( I think) cld it have been her previous owner?

Without meeting the dog and learning about her background, I couldn't pin point what happened or what is causing her aggression.

It could be something as simple as impacted scent glands, HD, breeding, the list is endless.

But I urge you not to give up looking for a experienced trainer near where you are.
