whelping pug

my pug is three years old,this is her first pregnacy,she was with male pug 1-8-09,she is getting big now and getting milk sacs,last temp. was 99.6 and she cries out often but no other signs how much longer do you think she has before giving birth? and how many pups? male pug is alot bigger than she is.

Hi Lisa. The average canine pregnancy lasts 63 days, althought a dog can safely go between days 58-65. If your dog was bred on 1\08, then that would make her due about 3\11. No one can say for certain exactly how many pups she will have. But, since she was bred to a larger male, after she hits day 50 of the pregnancy, I would have some x-rays done to see about how many there are, and if there are any really big ones that may cause trouble.
