2 pregnant boxers, same house

I have two female boxers, that went into heat at the same time, and it appears that they both are pregnant.  They usually get along beautifully, have never had a fight, suddenly, if they get within reaching distance, they are fighting.  They are both fine around my male, no problems, that is the only thing that has changed. The older of the two is the worst. They are right at 5 weeks,  I expected them to be protective when the pups came, but is it normal for them to become intolerable of one another so soon?  thanks, Shelley

Hi. This is actually quite normal. It could be the hormones, or they could have just decided that they don't like each other. Same sex agression is more common in Boxers, girls are the worst. This may be something that takes care of itself after the pups leave, or it could be that you'll have to keep them a part for good. When they have their pups, set them up so they have different rooms, and don't let them go out at the same time. After the pups are weaned or go home, try introducing them again. Like I said though, this may be a permanent problem.
