Question
hi there
i currently have a male toy poodle and i am getting another one ( female )who is two years old. She is on heat and will have been on heat for about 5 days when i get her. I am wanting to breed from her but am wondering if they will be ok together when i get her.i know that she wont stand until about day nine but will they be ok running around together before then as i dont want to upset her as she will be trying to settle into a new home? i have had other breeds of puppies before but have always owned the female and just brought the male in for mating, have never owned both male and female parties.

Answer
Hi Jessica

No reason to think they won't get a long.  The male may try and mount her immediately, which is a nice "how do you do?" for a new female, so you may want to introduce them slowly.

Don't force them together and let your female adjust to her new home.  Keep in mind that a major change, like a relocation, can make your female go back out of heat too.

Good luck
