3 week old pup killed!

I had a litter of 2 Yorkie pups three weeks ago and another litter of 5 pups four days ago.  The dam of the second litter stole one of the pups from the first litter and killed it.  They were housed in separate rooms.  Is this normal behaviour?  I am shocked to say the least!

Yes, a female can and will kill a litter of pups that don't belong to it.  

If you have more than one litter of pups, they should be securely housed away from each other.  Some females, regardless of the breed, are more "alpha".  While other females are reliable enough to be interchangeable milkers.
