my beagle

I have a beagle that is roughly 20 months old. She got loose the other day and I am pretty sure she is in heat. She was gone for about 15 hours. All the nearby males are either German shepards or labs. I was told by a vet that a bitch determines the size of the pups. With the huge size difference I am very worried. If she is pregnant should I be worried?? Or is the Vet right and I have nothing to worry about.

The female produces all the eggs she's ever going to produce, so she will determine the size of the litter, not the size of the actual pup.  The males determine the size, a large boned male may be too big for the female to birth safely.
