In heat 8 weeks after having a litter of puppies??

I recently got a female Great Dane that had a litter of puppies 8 weeks ago (the people were moving and couldn't take her with them) and it appears to me like she is in heat again. The only thing I'm really noticing is that she has a bloody mucus discharge. I'm hoping there is nothing wrong but could there possibly be? Or could it be another heat? I'm concerned...what should i look for or what could it be?

Did the previous owners tell you her heat cycle? Every 6 months, 9, etc.  A season typically starts with swelling and then bleeding.  

Sounds like it could be that she's coming into season.  Remember 2 months for gestation and 2 month the pups and it's time again.

The alternative could be a pre-heat or worms.  Either way I'd have her checked.
