Questionhi joyce, please help. we believe my 7 year old peekapoo is pregnant. she and our male got together quite a few times in early november. now january 6th. we estimeted her due date to be jan. 22 and 2 days ago she started acting real odd. panting, shivering, trying to nest, crying. we made a comfy place for her but she just wanted to be with us. she had a brownish discharge, like the thinkness of a thin tomoato soup but it was like a dark brownish. the discharge stopped and shes acting more normal but im worried about her, shes my baby, and i never had a pregnant dog before. is this at all normal?
AnswerHi Coral
7 years old falls into the high risk category.
Brownish discharge is a sign of distress. If she starts to have a black discharge that spell disaster. I would recommend taking her to the vet for x-rays. The vet needs to determine if the pups are still alive and if not, then immediate action has to be taken.
Good luck
