Overdue Chihuahua!

I have a Chihuahua who is pregnant, the 22nd was 63 days.  So now she is 65 days along.  I realize she may not have gotten pregnant the first time they tied so the days could be wrong but this is her 3rd litter and Im kinda worried, was just curious if there was anything I could do to help get the labor going? She seems to be eating less, in fact I dont think she has eaten dog food in two days but she will still take human food.  Anyway I'd really like your opinion, Im afraid I may just be having a hard time being patient lol.

Hi Allisha! First of all, Happy Holidays! It is really hard to be patient. If today is day 65 for her, then I would be taking her to the vet for a check up tomorrow. It can be very dangerous to both mom and puppies if allowed to go over too long. I'd take her in just to be on the safe side. With dogs, they can have what's called a slow labor (not the tech. term :-) or even just not go into labor. If you take her in, the vet may be able to determine if she's ok to deliver, and start from there. He should check her cervix before giving her an oxytocin shot. If her cervix is closed, it should not be given. There's really not anything that you can do. If she's not going to go into labor herself, she may require a c-section. Is there any way they breed later than you thought?
