Heat cycle after whelping

How long after having puppies do most dogs come in season?  My golden retriever had puppies in June and has not come in heat since.  I've have been given conflicting information.

If your female comes into heat every 6 months (whatever here cycle was prior 5, 6 7 etc.), then she will continue to do so.

So if she came in season in April, was bred had pups in June, she can be expected to come into heat again in September.  This is of course using April 1st as a random date.

She should be coming into again soon.  So unless you plan on breeding her back to back, it's best to keep an eye on her.
