Question
QUESTION: i heard that dog breeders dont make money when breeding dogs

my question is are they not allowed at all to make money when they breed dogs. is it against the law.

im just wondering to this question i have more after this hope to hear from you soon

ANSWER: Hi Emily

Some breeders don't make money but do it for the love of their chosen breed. And if you are doing it for the money, then in my opinion, you're in it for the wrong reasons.  Of course, there is the potential to make an income however, the animals needs must always be the first priority of any breeder, be they the backyard variety or professional.  The cost of food, health care, housing, and extra's has to be taken into consideration when breeding as does the betterment of the breed of choice.  If you are just putting a couple of dogs together with the hope that you can make a buck .... well there are a lot of those dogs in rescues and shelters who's "breeders" had the same idea.

You would have to check with your local laws pertaining to breeding in your demographics.

Good luck

QUESTION: Oh okay say me and my sister wanted to breed and do it for the love of the breed plus make some money would that be okay as long as we do it for the love to we aren't just in it for the money

Answer
I'm not anyone's moral compass.  But experience tells me that you have got to want to better the breed and have quality homes for every single pup you produce.

If you are selling a dog for profit, as people do, do it for the right reasons and you'll be successful.

Good luck
