Kelpie whelping

My 4yo kelpie bitch just started her third litter of pups. Last time she had 8 pups and this time after 12 hours she has only had 1. Is this variation normal and how long does the labour usually last? She is still giving some clear discharge.

if she is straining to push for a long period of time or is in labor for a long period of time without a pup being born then you need to take her into the vet. sometimes when whelping a litter a female can get tired and her contractions arent as strong and no more pups are produced. if there is still another pup in there and she had her last pup 12 hrs ago then she needs to be taken to the vet asap. does she still have more pups in there? did the after birth come out after the 1st pup? good luck to you and if you can answer those questions then i can better answer your question.
