Question
QUESTION: my dog temperature has dropped under a 100 Fahrenheit but is not acting any
different or nesting should i be concerned

ANSWER: when her temp goes down between 97.9 to 98.6 then you should expect labor to start within 24hrs. when you notice her temp has dropped in this range wait 2 hr and retake temp and if its still in that range then expect labor within 24hr. every female is different. some females will nest for a week before whelping and others will nest only right before pups are born. she shouldnt be left alone only after she whelps her litter just in case you need to assist. i hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

QUESTION: So her temp droped to 97.9-98.6 in that range yesterday and part of the night
before, now today it is back up to 100.0 degrees, she is still not nesting or
anything, but today we thought we noticed a clear discharge (just a little bit)
What is going on? haha

Answer
there is usually a rise in temp right before it drops down right before labor. you just have to make sure that the thermometer is in far enough every time you temp her. as far as discharge it varies from female to female. i had 1 female that had discharge for 1 day before she whelped pups and had another female that had discharge for 9 days before whelping. just watch her and when shes getting close then you will know. my last female only nested right before she had her first pup. i hope this helps and good luck with your pups coming.
