Male Moutning

I have a 1 1/2 year old female German Shepherd and i just got a 2yr old male. They came together on 02/05/09 and he has been trying to mount her and it is  over really fast. The Male is  bigger then my female and i belive that she gets tired of having him on her back and walks away before he is able to finch his job. i have also read that people help the female and male with this but its dangers because the dogs can attack. there was 2 days of of the male mounting my female and today they are just licking each other. please help with any information i can get thanks

Hi Samuel. Follow-up.   Although it is not always necessary, it is best if the two dogs "tie".  This action helps to help the male in place while the spermatozoids are being deposited.  The "tie" can last anywhere from 1 - 10 minutes.
