Question
Hi, I have a Chinese crested girl, she's 1 month pregnant, since she returned from the male's house, she doesn't have ticks, I check her daily with a special comb, her skin does not look abnormal, she just has her skin more clear where she scratches but I guess it's due to scratching, the parts that itch more are tail, ears, neck, the upper part of her back, and sometimes but only sometimes her belly, her tail really, really itches, she cries a lot, I've tried bathing her with pyoben from virbac. I don't know what to do since she's pregnant, but I'm afraid she might pass this thing to the puppies once they are born. I don't know if it is normal for her to have this itching with pregnancy, but non of my pregnant girls ever had itching before. Also, I've changed her food 3 times, but it wasn't food Cause with all 3 of them, she was itching.

Answer
Hi Elisa. usually, with a food allergy, the feet are the first thing to start itching. I would keep her on one type of food though, as it may start her on diarrhea. The best thing that I can suggest is getting her to the vet to see if he can figure out what's going on. You need to get this figured out before the pups come. Have you changed anything in your house....a new rug/carpet, cleaning products, anything at all? And of course, is there a chance that she has fleas? I know, you've probably already thought of that.:-) I have my mom's doberman/collie mix here, and she also has intense itching, with hair loss at times. She has flea bite dermatitis, and also severly dry, flaky skin. Try giving her a bath in oatmeal, and think really hard about anything at all that you may have changed inside and outside of your house. Besides that, I'd have to refer you to your vet to see exactly what's going on with her. Good luck!
