Male bleeding

Question
I have a 10 month old male King Charles spaniel. We just bred him over the weekend and he came home and has been bleeding from his penis. Is that normal? He's only been home for a day and I want to make sure he's ok.

Hi Jennifer. No, bleeding from the penis is never normal. He needs to be taken to the vet to find out what's going on. He may have hurt his penis while breeding, or during the tie. He's awfully young yet to be breeding. If he got scared during the tie and tried to get away, he may have hurt himself. At any rate, take him in to be checked out. Something's going on that may stop his stud career in his tracks if not looked after. After this, give him sometime to heal, and finish growing some more before breeding. Good luck!:-)
