my yorkshire terrier gave birth yerestday to 5 puppie but sadly four were dead  we took her up the vets  who said the pups were premauture and the alive pup wudnt surive he gave a couple of hour max and sed it be best to be put down  they were a week early i went to the vet 4 time in week who did a scan  the birth went fine as such she had 2 together  and then 15 min later  the last 3 she started at half seven and it was over by 9 my question is would the alive one a girl  survied being a week earl and why didnt the  vet pick any thing up as she  did have a scan 3 times  please as the she is moaning for her pups and looking everywhere for them

If the little female lacked sucking reflects and as a breeder you aren't equipped to deal with a "preemie" meaning you don't have oxygen, a warming box, puppy milk substitute, are able to administer fluids sub q, and prepared to get up every 2 hours to tube feed, then it's a tough could.  The pup may have survived or not.

The questions I would ask is what happened to cause the birth to go wrong?  Was it the breeding? To close? Unhealthy male or female? Was your female introduced to an STD?  Did your vet do x-ray's or ultra-sound?

Give your female extra love and a few stuff animals. Get her back on the road to a healthy and happy female and check with your vet to see if she may be able to have pups in the future.
