QUESTION: Average size male mini schnauzer. She has been eating 6oz of puppy chow for last 3weeks. She was and is very active and play full.

Answer
I always recommend puppy food AFTER the pups are whelped. The "problem" with the higher protein and fats of puppy food is that the pups grow so big that complication can arise with whelp.  It's perfect for a nursing mother.

What does "average size" mean.  If you are doing a line-breeding or interbreeding, the pups should stay similar size.  But if you are doing out-crossing, you have a greater chance of producing larger pups.

I would recommend a x-ray or ultrasound to get an better idea on the size of litter and structure.

Good luck
