my boston recently had a litter that will be 6 weeks on saturday may the 2nd and im curious to know when can i expect her next heat. that was her first litter i never really paid attention to her heats im only asking because sometimes i give her the freedom to roam on her own for small amounts of time and now im afraid she might breed with another dog of a different breed when she gets her heat

Once a female has been bred, chances are very, very good that she will roam looking for a mate.  If you don't plan on breeding her again, I would consider having her spayed.

It's important to know  when your female comes into season so your know when to expect it again. If she comes every 6 month or 9, then she would come in again around the same time.  If you don't know if she was regular, late, early then I can only guess.
