chihuahua bleeding

my Chihuahua has been bleeding ever time she goes to the bathroom since she gave birth to 5 healthy puppies 4 weeks ago. She is now bleeding all the time not just when she urinates, it's like she's in heat... why is this and what can I do?

Hi Roni.  When you write, " bleeding every time she goes to the bathroom,", do you mean the blood is in her urine, or is it coming from her vagina?  If the blood is watery, pale and coming from the vagina, then this could be normal.  Some female dogs "spot" for a couple months after giving birth.

If the blood is coming from the vagina and is bright red, and a lot of it, then I suggest that you take her to see your veterinarian.  Like wise if the blood seems to be in the urine and not the vagina.

Several things could be the cause of your Chihuahua to be heavily bleeding after giving birth, and without an examination it would be hard to tell the actual cause.
