STUD PROBLEM!!!!

"Hi,
I have a cavalier stud dog , which is supposed to be mating with a maiden bitch who is 3 yrs old. Her season has been strange according to her owner in the fact that she hasn't swelled as much as she usually does and in the fact that she has not had a bloody discharge. She won't stand and is very aggressive to my stud so yesterday I held her and I got the first tie for about 10mins but today when I tried he won't even mount her to try a tie this situation is beyond me understanding. I need some ideas on how I could get another tie as I don't want to have to give back the stud fee."

Could it be that in fact the female is not in heat? But having a "pre-heat" or split heat?  

I would have the owners of the female take her for progesterone testing.  If she isn't in heat or near ovulation, doesn't matter what you do, the dogs won't mate.

But if you got a 10 minute tie and she was ovulating, she could be still have taken. It only takes one time.  If nothing happens, it's best for the female to have x-ray's or ultra-sound after day 50.
