My mini dachshund isnt showing

I bred my miniature dachshund and her due date is in one week. She has developed a slightly larger stomach and definitely larger nipples. Her behavior has also suggested she is pregnant, however she is not showing in the tummy as much as I feel she should. This is not like the false pregnancy that she had before. It is her first litter and I believe that she was the only pup born to her mother- which I read suggests she may only have one pup herself. I did not have an ultrasound on her and I can't get in to see the vet for 4 days! I gotta know!

Well, there are two ways to know for sure....1. Wait her out. 2. Have an x-ray done. You can also do this, lay her down on her side, with one hand under her belly, the other on the other side. Slowly run your hands down her sides starting from her ribs. You should be able to feel the puppies by now if she is pregnant. Honestly, the best thing you can do, is to have an x-ray done on her. That will tell you roughly how many there are, and if she is indeed pregnant. I'm sorry I can't give you any better advice, I know how frustrating this is for you. sadly, there isn't a pregnancy test for dogs yet. Oh, a good indication that a dog may be pregnant is if her vulva stayed slightly swollen after her heat cycle.
