first heat is she pregnant

ok so ihave a 8 month shitzut/chaihuahuamix and a few days ago it went into its first heat. ive been keeing her seperated ffrom the other males in the house but today her and my 9 month shitzu/maltese mix got tied and she was crying alot so we pulled them apart or they came apart. either way..is she pregnant and if so is a puppy her age and size able to carry?

At her age & that of the male, I would urge you to seriously consider having the pregnancy terminated. She is both physically & emotionally immature & it's likely she'll encounter problems if allowed to continue with the pregnancy. Dogs are sexually mature at around 6 months of age so it's very likely the tie will result in pregnancy. Emotionally, at her age, she may not make a good mother & could even ignore the puppies after delivering, which would leave you to raise the litter, which is extremely difficult to do, even by an experienced breeder. You should have your veterinarian examine her in about three weeks as he should be able to tell if she's truly pregnant by palpating her abdomen. However, it would be wise to contact him very soon as he may have the means to provide a "morning after" injection that should help her uterus to expel anything contained -- at this stage, it's difficult to say whether or not any fetuses have even developed enough but this could be an easy precaution & may alleviate the need for further action.
