Question
Hi there, i have a miniature pincher who is pregnant. These past couple of days she will not eat her dog food, but if you don't pay attention she will steal your food. I read that you can give her ground turkey and beef livers, cooked. I want to know if that is ok before I go out and buy the items. If that s not what you suggest, can you please give me some suggestions?? I am just worried she's not getting enough food

Answer
Hi Drea,  Sure - Some home cooking and a good supplement will sure help this MOMMA and the future pups:
Try this:
Let's put some weight on this kid:

Can you home cook some of this?  Doggie Meatballs:  Add this to her current food each day - please give 1-2 meatballs at each meal.

DOG MEATBALLS-

Ground chicken 1 lb
Ground beef   1 lb
4% small curd cottage cheese ( 1 1/2 cups)
1 cups quaker oats soaked in low sodium chicken broth
peas 1/2 cup
string beans  1/2 cup
2 tablespoons salmon or fish oil (health food store or break open capsules from grocery store)
2 eggs
1 boiled yam or  1/2 cup sweet potatoes -this is great protein and helps keep everything moist.

Mix together and make into meatballs the size of your dogs portion.
Bake them at 350 until they are completely done.

Freeze into bags and warm up in microwave until warm and serve. They should love it and it is all digested so there is very little waste and smell.
I hope this recipe helps.
