I dont think my dog is producing milk

my rat terrier had 1 puppy last night and when i check her nipples no milk is coming out. the puppy is still sucking on the nipple and is not whelping like it is hungry. how can i tell for sure? if she is not producing any is there a way to increase production?

Sometimes it can take 24 to 48 hours for milk to come down.  You can give your female a shot of oxytoxin and that will help.

If the pup is not complaining, I would leave it.  If it's sucking, and quiet, enough is coming in to keep it satisfied.
