i have a ten month old douge de bordouax and she has been on her first season now for about six to seven weeks is this normal thanks karen

I swear that my DDB went into heat that last forever and she actually carried her pups to day 75! I think it's the breed.

My female is 3 and typically she has longer heats and has shown the tenancy for split or false heats.  What that means is she'll swell, then a few weeks later the bleeding begins. Thus making it appear that her heat goes on an on.

After speaking with several; DDB breeders they all experience similar seasons with their females.

To correct this, I have found that good quality food supplemented with vitamins and oils help kick the thyroid into gear.
