QuestionMy bitch (A westie) was mated for the 1st time on Tuesday and again yesterday. Today (Friday evening) I noticed a few blood spots and a small clot on the carpet - is this cause for concern? thanks
AnswerHi. Dogs can bleed through their whole heat cycle. However, when a dog is ready to be bred, their bleeding will usually lighten in color and frequency. I'm not sure what the clot looked like, but I would take her in for a check up to make sure that everything is ok, and she wasn't hurt during the last breeding.
