I have a mini dashound and she is not a year old and she came in heat we were keeping her away from dogs but now her nipples are getting hard is that a sign that she is prego? I have a blue heller mix with bittany. Could he get her prego? I am really scared i don't want this to hurt her if she is prego. Thanks

Hi. Nipples getting bigger and fuller is a sign of pregnancy. And yes, there's a chance that your male could get her pregnant, unless they were kept apart throught the whole cycle. There is what's called a false pregnancy, where a dog looks/acts like she's pregnant, but isn't. You may want to take her to the vet to see if he can tell, when was she in heat? Since your girl is such a small dog, it seems near impossible that a much bigger dog could tie with her, but I've seen stranger things. For now, I would treat her as if she is pregnant until proven otherwise but I would definitely get her in to your vet. Such a size difference worries me.
